Hi there.
Fairly sure the drive is dead but thought I'd check here before I RMA to Western Digital.
The machine stopped booting today after no prior problems - freezing during POST looking for the primary HD.
Swapped the power and EIDE cables - same issue.
The hd is making a high pitched scratch/squeal noice followed by a click after around 5 seconds.
Sounds like the disk is skipping inside of the drive - tried giving it a wack to no avail.
Tried slaving from another machine - same issue.
Same noise with only the power cable in.
Am I right to think the drive has died a death?
