It is not that old 2 years maybe, all S.M.A.R.T. utils (even WD Lifeguard) didn't give me any bad warning signs, well one in Ubuntu 10.04 had a few pre-fails & old age. A few mins ago Ubuntu failed to find root device & booted me to Ramfs, but I rebooted fine on the same system, so sort of confused...
Drive failing??
