Hi there.

I've got a laptop HD which i've connected to my pc with a laptop > IDE cable converter, i've got it plugged into my secondary IDE channel, in the BIOS is can see the drive, but for some reason is reads it as a secondary slave rather than primary slave on the 2nd channel? dont know if thats normal...

When windows boots the little poppup bubble on the taskbar shows saying its detected it, yet the drive isnt visible on my computer or on the disk management window. I really need to access this drive, it has important work files and the laptop it was in has a duff bios :(

Anyone have an idea as to what might be wrong?

Cheers.

You could try a 2.5in hard drive case ide to usb 2.0. That may help if the info is really important.

R2eads it as a secondary slave rather than primary slave on the 2nd channel? dont know if thats normal" - sound fine to me if it is connected on the secondary ide channel.

Try this - right click on my computer, click properties, click hardware tab, click device manager, click action - scan for hardware changes. Then go check for your hard drive in disk management again.

thanks for the response.

I gave that a go but it didnt seem to work.
the drive is actually viewable on device manager, but still isnt showing up on disk management or my computer :(

I suppose i could try get one of those usb hard drive housing things though, didnt think of that :)
