Chaps, having a problem getting a new SSD recognised in Windows.

I've got a Samsung 128GB SSD on port 1 on a GA-F2A85X-UP4 motherboard, with a RAID 10 array on ports 4-7 (I think).

If I plug my new Samsung Prov 256GB drive into ports 2 or 3, the BIOS recognises it, but Windows doesn't. It's not listed in Disk Management for me to do anything with.

I've double checked the bios again and it's listed there, as well as in the RAID management, but just can't get Windows to see it.

Any ideas? Is this a power limitation or have I hit max number of drives the motherboard can handle or something?

Is the BIOS up to date?

Actually not sure how that would actually help windows see it if the current BIOS sees it.

Err.

Can you plug it into another PC, format it/make a logical partition, then plug it back inthis AMD setup?

For those interested, this is what gigabyte support have said (not been impressed thus far!)

"Please set OnChip SATA Type = RAID and OnChip SATA port4-7 = IDE, than connect RAID HDD on SATA port 0-3. "

For those interesting, which is probably no-one...

Gigabyte support advised I needed to move all the RAID array drives from ports 4-7 to 0-3. Then the SSD's to any of the 4 to 7 ports. I did this without much effect, and then was told to change the bios to ports 0-3 as RAID and 4-7 IDE.

This kicked the new drive into life, but one of the 4 raid drives failed as a result.

Another interesting thing is that the ports are labelled 0-6 on the mobo but 1-7 in the raid controller and windows software.

Done my nut, right in this lot has.
