Hello folks, I have a few HDD currently installed in my PC and I have just aquired a neew one, now one of the drives in the PC is currently beginining to make hell of a noise when accessing, sadly I am not positive which one it is :/.....With this in mind are there any applications or benchmarks available that tests the read/write speed of HDDs and if they are SATA I or SATA II and if so where can I obtain a copy.
Secondly, below is a list of my current HDDs:
C: Drive - 250Gb Hitachi Deskstar T7K250-Windows XP/MS OfficeGeneral Apps
D: Drive - 74Gb Western Digital Raptor WD740GD - Games
E: Drive - 200Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 - Documents/Music/Movies
F: Drive - 120Gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 - Backup and Downloads
The new uninstalled drive is a:-
320 Gb Samsung SpinPoint T166 Series HD321KJ
I am going to setup a dual boot system (XP/Vista) with only 3 drives as 4 is a bit much and is restricting airflow in my case. How do you think the best way of setting the drives up will be, I was thinking of using the new drive as a partitioned drive with both copies of windows on and possibly another partiton for games. I think the raptor is the one on it's way out so I was going to stop using that and the Maxtor as I have an external caddy for backups, which leaves the Seagate and the Hitachi for storage and programs?
Ummmm, any thoughts????
