Drive speed ?

If it's just for storage, then low spin speed will be fine. Just get a Western Digital Green.

My rule is that basically any old reliable HDD is fine and will do a good job at storing media. When it comes to speed, get a decent SSD.

Been offered one of these 3TB Western Digital WD30EZRZ WD Blue 5400 RPM cheaper than a WD green, what do you think ?

Yeh they're fine. That model spins at 5400rpm so would be similar speed to a green but may be a little quicker (noticeable - I doubt it) than a green.

Should do. WD are good, never had one fail on me. Seagate on the other hand - 125% failure rate within about 3 years over 4 drives.

Samsung are also decent if you're after another option.

I've not heard anything bad about the latest Seagates, so they're probably fine tbh, but I avoid them as much as I can since their disastrous 1.5TB drives.
