I am currently on a 250gb HDD. I want to transfer all the data to my new 1TB HDD. I want it exactly same state so my new 1TB hdd will boot up with windows etc like nothing has happened except its now on a bigger HDD.
What do?
On windows 7 i thought this kind of thing would be really easy. but i cant get it to work. I downloaded a program called DriveImage XML. There it has "Drive to Drive" So i click on it. I select my current HDD and get it to copy to my new HDD. Except just as its about to start doing that i get this error message.
"could not lock destination drive disk1#1.
So i try to make a backup. I save the backup to my new HDD, this was completed successfully by driveimage xml. But when i try to restore this image onto my new HDD it comes up with the same error message.
In disk management
old drive is "healthy"
New volume is also healthy. Ive formatted the new HDD as well. dont know what to do now
please help me
