Hi :)

Just need to work out what order to install my drivers in. I have had problems yesterday with windows Explorer crashes and such, so I reinstalled windows. I think it's an app centre (gigabyte) to nvidia conflict, so how would I go about installing drivers? I've done the main ones on the gigabyte disc such as the network and usb drivers, but what next? The nvidia, or app centre? Last time I did app centre first. Any hello is appreciated :)

Hi, when l install drivers manually l do> CPU Chip drivers 1st, GPU set resolution, SSD/HDD Drivers > Connect SSD ONLY - l don't connect by Back up ATA HDD until all mobo drivers are installed.

As sometimes this can lead to problems them lan, usb, sound and any other drivers, then go into device manager to check if everything is ok.

Right, installed Windows, updates, and the basic drivers from the gigabyte disc, now the nvidia ones have done. It seems pretty stable, so should I wait a few days to install the App Centre?

First thing i do before a new build/reinstall is download the latest drivers to a USB stick.

Update bios using bios flashing tool in the bios.
Install windows (only SSD connected).
Install drivers starting with the chipset.
Update windows.
Tweak whatever needs tweaking.

I never use Easytune/AI suite/Live update or anything like that.

Should always be chipset drivers straight after build as this can expose additional hardware.
I then go install the rest of the drivers in no particular order as I've generally found there is no issue, but in some cases you may find you need a certain order for some devices.

Usb drive here usually too. Latest drivers from board vendor. The only time i used the driver disk was for the board in sig as i got it a few days after release. Drivers on the site were the same as those on the disk.

Hmm okay - well my system is up and running (again...) and haven't had many problems, apart from (here we go again :/ ) a couple of times when the SSD booted, it ran a disk check. No idea why, anyone can think of an idea why? Also, I'm scared about putting the secondary monitor into the integrated gpu like last time incase it borks up again.

The correct procedure as far as I remember is:

Windows updates (if needed/possible)
Chipset
Graphics
Audio
Peripherals(storage, USB, etc...).

Most important though is chipset has to come first as the other drivers rely on that foundation. BIOS should be upto date before hand.

Hmm, okay thanks. Do you guys think it's safe to run my second screen on the integrated now?

Decided against doing that, but having other problems with the Nvidia card/drivers. I installed the newest drivers, and was playing DayZ. The screen went all stuttery and updated a few frames, then got stuck, then updates some more, got stuck. I then quit the game with difficulty and the problem was still there. Then the nvidia drivers "crashed and have succesfully recovered." Ran an MSI stress test, same error, apart from the drivers didn't crash. Restarted the computer and all is back to normal. Any help?! Is the GPU faulty?!

Download latest drivers to other HDD before formatting.

Well, I used to do that until I got 16Mb/s down instead of 1Mb/s down.. :p

Never had an issue with the NIC drivers not being installed auto by Win7 yet.

I think that automatic nvidia drivers install is an update which I haven't installed, so I got them manually. However I am getting that freezing problem which I just can't live with, so has anyone got a fix/anyone else got this problem and will I need to RMA or something? D:
