Driver keeps crashing when playing games - 2x 290's

I flipped the bios switch on the cards - I have managed to get through the heavens benchmark without a crash so far.

Btw the overlay does not get capture in the screenshot when I hit F12 and if I use print screen it only captures the desktop -_-.

There is no Uber mode on 290 Pro cards. I think the second bios is Legacy instead of UEFI though. Maybe that was the reason for the crashes??

Well I assume one is quiet mode because my temps are now higher 94 in arma 2 but no crashe so far.

These cards are designed to run this hot? I think they may be hotter but msi and what not only registers 94?.

No crashes so far... hitting the bios switch seems to have solved it.

All thats done is affected temps so far.

hm after my recent experience id suggest trying them 1 at a time but going by ur sig they are plumbed in? ><

maybe you can try disable them 1 at a time would that be a way to test? im not sure

what cpu? if games crash to desktop or ccc crashes and or fails to load at startup id try more cpu v,and or more vtt voltage esp with xfired cards

I take that back the driver just crashed.

As said above, try running you system with just one card at a time and test for a lengthy session. If both cards are ok on their own, carry on running with just one card and overclock the CPU to about 4.3 or 4.4 and see if you get any problems. If everything is fine put the second card back in, if you then get problems it could be the CPU.

I had a similar problem with my 3970X and 4 290Xs (Karlitos did too), when I was running anything up to 3 cards there was no problem but 4 cards even at stock was a nightmare. To fix it in the end I had to swap my CPU for a 4930k.

Im running now for about half an hour in Arma 2 - No crash so far.

Temps are at 90c tho, if it crashes again I will be trying 1 card at a time for extended gaming.

I have not got them plumbed in yet tho guys -_-.

This is very frustrating, I dont see how the cpu could be causing an issue though.

Seems entirely a software thing with the drivers.

The drivers never crashed with my backup 8800gt.

When I say the drivers crash I mean that the screen goes black and the driver recovers but the computer doesnt crash itself.

Just did a windows update.... and.... my temps are lower my usage is fine..... did some heaven benchys performance is the same/better....

No crashes touch wood...

lol?

Just had my display crash - but teamspeak was still working just the display.

???

Its working fine now though..but i have not started a game yet.

Benching with one 290 atm and bf4 no problems so far.

Temps max out at 74.

My temps with both cards settled to about 74/78.

They are powercolor 290's btw.

I am about to test the second card and see how it goes.

Doing another round of bf4 and another bench before I do.

Hoping that you have the latest BIOS on your motherboard, and you are sure than it does support the method of which the R9 290s make the CF?
