driver prosecuted for warning of speed trap

Blimey, I do this all the time. :o

I should add i give the Thumbs down sign & Don't flash my lights.

Firstly: Christ, I do this all the time!

Secondly: How is this possibly in the best interests of the public?

If drivers are slowing down for the speed trap isn't the need for it being there being addressed?

He must have had a crap lawyer, this is a ridiculous prosecution, have the police any actual proff that the drivers were going to break the law? are they going to prosecute the speeding camera signs that also warn us of the upcoming speed camera?

Surely for obstruction a crime has to have been committed?

Its crazy how the CPS can push this through and make it stick yet my mothers neighbour stabbed and killed a guy in his kitchen during a fight over drugs and the CPS dropped the case!!!

Proper "blackadder" moment.

What the fudge? Since when has it been illegal to warn people of speed traps? I do that all the time, it's called common courtesy.

Poor guy probs can't afford a decent lawyer or thought it so silly he didn't bother.

The police wonder why some of the public don't trust them...

I've heard of people getting their ear bent over this but never a prosecution before :(

I stopped flashing people a while back though after I flashed and "thumb down"ed a young guy in a modified Corsa. He obviously got the wrong end of the stick and dropped a couple of cogs and gunned it towards the corner, around which was a Scamera van :(

That's just Darwin at work :D

This is my main gripe. It isn't in the public interest.

I would hope that an appeal is forthcoming and is won.

I disagree. I think this is perfectly in the public interest. I also think that perhaps the CPS should peruse other offences with this vigor, but that's a different argument.

You can't say that flashing lights to warn oncoming drivers isn't being obstructive?
