Hey,

Was just scanning my pc for what driver versions everything has, updated the graphics driver etc. but then i suddenly thort.... Do hard drives have drivers !?

This had never crossed my mind before, i thort they must have drivers. A quick visit to hardware manager confirmed this !

Anyway, sorry about the ramble but im unable to find any new drivers for my maxtor diamondmax plus9 6Y120L0. Is there likely to be any or do they not genrally get updated like graphics drivers ??

Cheers
Arge

Not drivers in the sense of graphics cards etc, there are drivers but they're windows' own built in ones and fairly limited in what they have to do.

What you can update though are drivers for your motherboard chipset which will include any updates for the on board hard disk controllers (there might be a separate set for any third party on board controllers). The bulk of HDD functionality will be included in these, any updates however will likely be purely bug fixes - there's not much that can be done to improve performance in the way that graphics driver updates tend to.

One exception to this (others?) is that the nforce board chipset drivers include a nvidia IDE driver that is supposed to be better and I always installed them when updating the nforce chipset drivers.

That's still a controller driver rather than one for the drive itself though.
