Hi all,
Bit of an issue with one of the laptops... The laptop in question is an Acer Aspire 5101AWLMi (windows XP home). The issue 'seems' to be related to the wireless adaptor...

Lately, it has struggled to connect to our network. Often it will find all of the networks within range, but you try to connect to ours it fails and then cannot find any networks in range... if you do the usual 'repair' connection, the wifi adaptor is disabled and then enabled - the machine then blue screens.

Also if you attempt to 'Turn On' the wifi adaptor via the Acer e-power management software and then 'apply', it will blue screen.

This also happens if you toggle the wifi switch on the front edge of the laptop. This makes me think it is wifi adaptor/driver related..?

The error is:
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ....
... Technical Information: ***Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x00002854, 0x000000002, 0x00000000, 0xAD5C2115) *** ar5211.sys - Address AD5C2115 base at AD58A000, DateStamp 4608ab25 ..."

Thanks in advance for your suggestions...
Grant

ar5211.sys = Atheros (wireless company) meaning it is the wireless causing it.

Have you updated to the latest drivers?

I get this error message too! I've recently installed Window 7 ultimate (was using 7 RC1 previously on the same hardware) and I get it whenever I have high wireless network usage.

I'm using a netgear WN111 wireless adapter. Subscribing to this thread in the hope that someone has a suggestion that works. :)

I attempted to download the relevent drivers earlier from Acer which failed (due to their hosting/db), as a work around Im in the process of running a system restore before two previous updates... Im presuming an updated/replacement driver was deployed as part of a routine windows system update.... will update shortly.

Quick update, system restore failed. However, I did manage to download the relevant drivers from the manufacturer site, which I installed. This seems to have resolved the issue....

The wireless adaptor can now be enabled/disabled without any blue screen issues - cheers all.
