Drivers are stupid

I don't have to reboot once my 670 overclock is unstable. Crashes to desktop. then i can just alter the voltage mate. change to an aftermarket cooler? my cooler is coming tomorrow

Yeah, I can change all the settings alright, but I have to reboot before the card will go to 3d clocks. I presume this is to prevent a loop of crashing, but that's what task manager is for.

I'm considering an accelero, but £50 is bloody steep. If it were under £30 I would, but I don't know if adding 25% to the cost of my card is worth it. Saying that, my pc would be so quiet. It is tempting. But £50!

im getting the accelero twin turbo 2.Its 29.99 on ocuk but they are out of stock, so i bought elsewhere for a little more

Drivers can only do so much, the GPU is an integral part of the Windows OS so if it goes down at any point the OS might not be able to recover. I always thought that the main point behind driver recovery was to give you the opportunity to back up any work before rebooting, obviously if the drivers don't recover the GPU this is not possible and you could lose hours of work.
