I did a clean install of Vista on a SATA HD. Everything loaded fine so I inserted the disc to load the motherboard drivers.

They did not autorun and would not load. I double clicked on the icon within computer but they still would not load. I browsed the CD to the disc autorun but that would not work either.

I kept on getting a message about a "security fix".

Does anybody know how I get around this or a setting I click. I have no internet access, since no LAN driver :-( otherwise I would download what I needed from the internet.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Sounds like you're trying to load Windows Xp drivers. Go to your motherboar's website, and download the Windows Vista drivers instead. ;)

Well it is the disc that came in the box. I am not even getting to the stage where I am allowed to choose a driver

A bit of research 5 minutes ago leads me to think that it might be to do with unsigned drivers and perhaps I was not logged in as an administrator. They will load on 32-bit Vista apparently if logged in as admin.

Either way, at your suggestion I am going to download the Vista drivers from the net to a floppy and try again when I get home. Fingers Crossed :(

I understand totally what you are going through.

I installed Vista 64bit on my machine and couldnt get the motherboard drivers off the installation CD that come with it. The motherboard I have is a P5N32 SLi Premium Vista Edition, so I was pretty certain that Asus would supply the correct installation drivers.

I too cannot get the relevant drivers off the internet, as only have access at work, and cannot access the net at home because of the lack of drivers. I did manage to get the Asus drivers from my parents house from the website, burnt to disc and tried that way. However, during install it found bits from the driver were apparently missing, so cancelled the install.

I then got the relevant drivers from the nvidia website, installed, but nothing. It isnt recognising the ethernet port on the motherboard because the drivers are *ucked!

I got Vista Business edition free from my university and now I don't know what on earth to do with it. Netgear haven't released any drivers for it, which means that I can't use my computer with Vista. Such a pain in the arse.

download the drivers on the pc you're using to access ocuk with :p

then move them to your pc on a cd or usb pen

Got it working. Vista apparently had all of the necessary drivers anyway. I think that there was a problem with my internet connection when I first installed so it was not the lack of drivers.

However, I still can't load the unsigned drivers that came on the disc with the MB which is shocking

I have now downloaded the official Nvidia downdrivers, which are signed, without fuss.
