Yeah that sounds reasonable. The average is around £90m2 around this way so would be around £6.3kHad a quote to do block paving for my driveway and side of the house for £5,100
The size is ;
6 metres x 8 metres = 48
2 metres x 11 metres = 22
So total 70 sqm
Does this sound a reasonable quote for the size?
Same price around here ie. £90m2 for standard block paving.
Not sure on prices in Stoke, but £70m2 sounds very reasonable.
@op, please do your due diligence on the contractor, get recommendations, quote in writing explaining the work to be done etc.....
Good to hear. Thanks yes the contractor has come recommended he did my in laws.
I would rather pay a bit more for a contractor that has come recommended than pay less and take a chance of someone off the internet. Thanks yes the contractor has come recommended he did my in laws.
Good to hear.
Don't forget that there are many more options for block paving now.
Have a look at Marshalls Tegula or Argent, they are more expensive but look way better imo. You would also be just paying the diffeernce in the cost of the blocks, as digging out and laying the blocks are the same price
I totally I agree that’s why I only got one quote but wanted to check that it is reasonable price to pay. I did think it sounded cheap, as my drive way is pretty big imo . He’s having to rip up all the old concrete slabs which is back breaking work I’d imagineI would rather pay a bit more for a contractor that has come recommended than pay less and take a chance of someone off the internet.
Charcoal is just a colour, standard blocks are one size 200mm x 100mm. But i agree, charcoal and light grey are the most popular colours now.Yes the charcoal? That looks good the guy that is doing it is dropping me some sample bricks off , he did say charcoal does look good at the moment and it is very much in the style, for modern block paving driveways
Not sure if you looking somwhere else but the Argent are £56.18 compared to £22.76 so that is a large uplift for personally not a lot which is basically visuals.Charcoal is just a colour, standard blocks are one size 200mm x 100mm. Tegula come in 3 sizes, and are 'aged' to look like old cobbles.
Argent also come in 3 sizes but have a top layer that looks like granite, it even sparkles in sunlight.
Metro are very modern looking, they are a long narrow block with 4 different colours mixed in iirc and has the same finish as Argent.
Have a look here https://www.marshalls.co.uk/gardens-and-driveways/driveways/block-paving
My point is, for example, if standard blocks cost £20m2 to buy, and Argent are £35m2, then to choose a better block should only cost you £15m2 extra as installation costs are the same. This is budget dependent of course.
45sqm TegulaI don't have the sqft to hand but I paid 6k including a retaining wall. I'll get sqft to you and report back. I'm in mega wealth tax area tho, so this was an Irish lad. A British guy wanted 10k.
A valid point, but i was only giving the OP some different options to consider, also i did say its budget dependent. Not sure if you looking somwhere else but the Argent are £56.18 compared to £22.76 so that is a large uplift for personally not a lot which is basically visuals.
If it was only £15 and not £35 if agree if you want something visually different.
