My brother said he would take me to IKEA yesterday, but we went out to party last night and he's told me that he can't drink for so many hours after driving and he thinks it is 16 but, me, I don't drive so I don't have a clue.

Anyone care to enlighten us? :)

Thanks.

There is no law stating a time limit, it is simply the percentage of alcohol in your blood that determines whether you are safe to drive. Some people feel fine after a standard night's sleep.

I am clearly hung-over, so I won't be fit to drive if I can't form a sentence. :)

What I meant wasss, how long does he have to wait after consuming alcohol, before he can drive. Of course. But m'eh, you knew what I meant. :p

SherberT*, yeh I'm back. I'll update it. Right now, sir. Sorry, sir. ;)

Zefan, thankee.

The human body on average takes 1 hour to absorb 1 unit of alcohol, so work out how many units he had and convert that to hours. A bottle of carlsberg export is 1.5 units, so 1.5 hours and it should be absorbed by a healthy adult male.

Your having a laugh? If your not you sir are one sick _+_+_+_+_+

Please dont ever drink then drive, especially when you know your over the limit.

Well, he was out at 11pm last night and we left at 2am, and it's now 1pm in the afternoon. He's not a heavy drinker at all so I'd say it's safe to assume the best. :)

i seriously hope you get pulled and lose your license next time

This is the only reason why i feel a 0 drink/drive limit would not work. Surely if you went out for 5/6 pints one night and then drove the next NIGHT, you would have some alcohol still in your system. More than 0 anyway.

Not the kind of thing that you should be openly admitting on a forum imo mate. Not because of the legal issue of driving whilst over the limit but because you are letting everyone on here know that you are a bit of a ***!

Saying you were fine is absolutely no excuse at all. I feel fine after a few drinks, actually I feel brilliant, but I certainly wouldn't jump in my car.

Some info

The amount of alcohol a person consumes is measured in units. Here are some rough examples of what makes up a typical unit:

* Half a pint of beer or cider (3-4%) (5.5% is about 2.5unites per pint)
* A small glass of wine
* A single measure of spirits (e.g. whisky, vodka, rum or gin)

The male body is made up of 66 per cent fluid, compared to 55 per cent for women. This means alcohol is more diluted in a man's body than a woman's. As a result, women tend to get drunk faster than men on the same amount of alcohol.

The calculation is 1 hour a unit + 1 hour.

here's another good quote
Drink 4 pints of Stella and you can’t drive for at least 13 hours from finishing your last pint. If you finish at midnight, you aren’t safe until after 1pm the next day.

I wonder how many people on this forum have drove over the limit? I never have but I am one of the very few people I know who hav'nt.
