Driving Force GT (DFGT) v Thrustmaster F430 - mini review.

I dropped the deadzone to 0% for the F430 and it's better, doesn't have any twitch.

I added 1% deadzone for the DFGT and never removed it, there was a little 'twitchyness' at dead centre on the DFGT.

Found the F430 for £70 and I'm rather enamoured with it, this is my first good wheel.

My favourite racing game is race 07/addons and I've been spending the last two days mastering the corners. I'm fighting understeer at the moment in the fwd cars and steering with my right foot, but I'm slowly getting my eye in and building confidence.

I find the limited rotation to actually be a boon, its great for me as I'm not the most adept driver and less turning means less skill needed.

To the OP, do you know of the games that work with the manettino with no tweaking? I haven't set it up yet but none of my games seem to make use of it...

One issue is I have laminate flooring and the pedals "really" like to slide around, I think they could do with being weightier.

Other than the pedals being light this is a fantastic item and if you have a bit more than a passing interest in driving games, a great addition to your peripheral collection.

This is my second thrustmaster peripheral I also have one of their flight sticks and I'll definetely be buying more of their products. They seem to be a cut above :)

I wanted to update this post to say I no longer recommend the Thrustmaster F430.

I love the wheel and think it's great for the money, however I've had two faults in less than a year.

The first one after a few months, the FFB 'gearing' inside cracked when turning, horrible sound and it was unusable.

Thrustmaster replaced no questions asks.

However the brand new replacement on it's first use after just 10 minutes SET ON FIRE.

No joke, plumes of smoke, intoxicating smell and then lick of flame... I literally ripped it off the desk and threw it out the window.

I must have been unlucky, but needless to say I'll be demanding my money back! :-s
