Driving lessons with BSM?

I found BSM to be very good, even if their prices where a little over the top.

The guy I got was really good, I suppose its just down to the luck of the draw, a mate of mine learning with BSM at the moment has quite possibly one of the worst instructors going.

Best bet is probably to go with a local independant instructor though, as for him its his career at stake, people with BSM and the AA etc all get paid no matter what, these guys have to earn their money and build up their reputations and in general are much better for it.

I cant remember the price, but maybe try the AA. Think it was quite pricey, but they were very good. I was on manoeuvres by the second or third lesson, always got the impression my instructor was there to teach me rather than get money out of me, but at the same time, nothing was ever rushed.

Edit: Just checked, it was £42 for 2 hours. Worth it though, I had 24 hours of regular lessons, so within 4 months of starting to learn, I'd passed my test :)

Local independent > Major companies.

I am paying £19.50 per hour for mine at the moment from an independent (The instructor used to work for one of those big companies), and i am not driving no Corsa. Got to drive a Mini One Diesel with 6 speed gear box, lots of torque. Probably spoiled me since i can't afford one of these when i pass my test.

not true BSM, AA or other large`ish companies are franchised so are self employed and if they dont work they dont get paid, and if word gets around that a particular instructor is not very good then people will ask for another if they get him/her, so they do still have to work for their reputation they are not garaunteed work as such
