Driving on the hard shoulder

NP, :D.

I have a hard time driving in the fast lane when the car's working! I can usually keep pace with the car in front, but I get bullied by BMWs and AUDIs left right and centre.

This thread still going

Too many keyboard warriors arguing the same points over and over
Get out in the real world and try the road for yourself!

It works – end of thread !!

From what I've seen of Highways Officer's, they're a danger to themselves! I've seen Highways Officers walking with the back to the traffic on a live carriage way, waving traffic on with the hands WHILST walking in to the lane! Sheer lunatics! :D

Some pretty brave & good ones too mate, have had quite a few dealings with them.

They do a difficult (at times) job for pretty crap money imo.

But there is now a long line of angry gridlocked drivers stuck behind you in the lane.......

In 90% of cases (that I come across ) a simple push to the side of the road is all thats required, do they? no!

9 times out of 10 its some daft sod like me ending up stopping to help the poor sod out....

Bah! :p

Breakdowns are not a problem - there are large pull in laybys every 500 yards, with a phone and CCTV monitoring each one.

Is that a wind up using photoshop? Do they honestly expect say should you get a blowout to skillfully drive maybe up to 500 yards or maybe brake sharply to avoid overshooting the end of the hard shoulder? This is comical. :)
What happpens if someone else has broken down there? Do you just run into them? At least thats one way to stop. :D

I initially thought the same as well. But then I got wondernig.

Hands up everyone here who has had cause to immediatly pull over and stop on the hard shoulder of the Motorway in the last 5 years.

I see a broken down car every few miles on the hard shoulder. In some ways it's a great idea. In others I can see it being very bad. Imagine a accident how are the emergency service going to get there, how about when people brake down.

We need more roads and more importantly better road management.
