Driving pet hates...

People who can't use lanes properly.

There is a bypass near my house and people drive the full length of it in the overtaking lane at 25mph under the speedlimit just because they want to turn right at the roundabout a mile down the road. Even had a few pip or flash lights at me for passing on the left when they are doing 45 in a 70.

Have the exact same issue near me. Goes from a single carriageway nsl to a dual. The dual is 1.5 miles long but they'll still pull in to the right hand lane at the very start. Tools.

Middle lane morons have been done to death, but they're top of my list. Especially those that join an empty motorway and go straight across into lane 2 or 3 for no reason.
People that indicate left at roundabouts before the exit prior to theirs. Seriously more dangerous than just not indicating at all.
People that have satnav/phone stuck in the middle of their windscreen around the area directly in front of their face. How is this not recognized as a driving offense? Usually the type that are sat 3cm from the steering wheel.
People that lane-hop as often as possible in congestion. Just causes more congestion as everybody has to brake or slow more to restore a safe gap.
People that are completely unable to keep anywhere near a constant speed in 50mph motorway roadwork areas.
Truck drivers that block a 2-lane A road for 10 miles to overtake another truck because they are going 0.0001mph faster, until they reach a hill and then can't complete the overtake.
People that stand on the brakes when going under a camera gantry despite the fact they are within the speed limit.
People that find it necessary to 'swing out' and dangerously cross into another lane or oncoming traffic before making a turn that warranted no such action.

People who stop to let others out on NSL roads when the road ahead is clear. You’re not helping anyone, just causing congestion for everyone behind you. They can wait 10 seconds for a gap, I'm sure they’ll manage.

This seemed an analogue of people using their mobile phone in cars

Soldier B, who joined the army in 2002, was one of 187 passengers in a RAF Voyager aircraft flying from RAF Brize Norton to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. At 33,000ft, the plane suddenly plummeted towards the ground. Some passengers were pinned to the ceiling due to the force of the descent.

The accident was caused by the Pilot’s personal camera which he had brought on board and which became jammed in flight-deck equipment.

.... drivers gesticulating and obviously distracted by passengers
..... ill maintained diesel cars putting out smoke as they are 'booted' - usually flash them in environmental empathy

People that come up to a roundabout that is wide enough for 2 cars , and they stay in the middle so nobody can go around to the left to turn left or go right at the roundabout, see this at the same roundabout 5 days a week

People who don't use signals exi5ing a roundabout

Not just this but also people who don't indicate right on a roundabout to inform other users that they are going to be taking a late exit, I've developed a mindset of if you can't be bothered to indicate then I can't be bothered to stop on approach.

Glad I am not the only one.

This is a huge bugbear of mine. Not just on NSL roads but over-courteousness in general. If you're interrupting the flow of traffic around you in order to "be nice", then please stop it. It's annoying and potentially dangerous. And stop bloody flashing your headlights at night.

Courtesy causes confusion.

I followed an old bloke last weekend and he stopped to let people out at literally every junction. He even waved people over at a roundabout when it was his right of way. The icing on the cake though was stopping at a T-junction where the lights were on green for us and waving out the people who were on red. Obviously they didn't move since it was a red light! The queue he caused was absolutely massive.

I tend to drive on motorways with cruise set.

My biggest pet hate is as I approach a car clearly going slower - and as I get near to them, and pull out - they start to accelerate to match my speed. So unless I increase speed, we end up driving next to each other. Then, once I'm past, they slow down again.

I've noticed this as well. Very annoying.

Have to agree with this one, becomes really annoying when they speed up so you go behind them and they slow down again.

People with small willies who speed up just to stop you from merging infront of them on slip roads, and also those with even smaller willies who speed up to try and block an overtake.

Some sort of study showed that many people do this subconsciously.

I do agree though very annoying.

A few that really annoy me.

- When I give way to someone or have to stop because they didn't give way to me, and they don't say thank you.
- When someone does something ******* stupid and I end up getting the finger for using the horn or being completely ignored, a quick wave of the hand to apologise defuses the whole situation!
- People on their phone, swerving all over the place, still see it almost daily.

Prob been mentioned already, but the number of people who don't know how to navigate a roundabout is frightening...
There are two large roundabouts on my trip to and from work, and at least 2 - 3 times a week I have to be wary of vehicles going round in the outside lane WAY past an appropriate exit for that lane
