Driving test: Is it true...

+1

I really do think that you could be the perfect driver, but show some bad nerves and you'll get failed on the silliest of things. I hid my test day nerves well and drove comfortably and confidently and the examiner did let a couple of things slide for that reason.

Same, I passed a 30mph sign at 40mph and didnt slow down until about 100yds into the 30mph zone. I instantly said, oops I just missed that 30sign then slowed. I was then a bit down as I was sure that was a fail.

Got back to the centre and he says I passed. I said what about the 30mph sign, I was told everyone speeds a little! He did say that the main thing was he felt safe with me and could see I was very observant (Had ridden bikes for 7years before taking my test). I think talking him through what I was seeing and doing helped, kind of like a running commentry so he knew why I may be holding back for a second until the harzard was no longer a hazard etc.

Don't worry, you'll pass next time fingers crossed :D

I agree with they just know if you are ready or not, they can pick up the slightest of things and can probably tell if you are confident enough to drive unassisted, i mean thats why they are driving instructors. Saying that i'm just assuming. . .
