Driving the ROG swift

I ran a 1440p 100hz monitor up until recently on a single 780 and only things like witcher 3 pushed it to the limit of what I would accept.

I'd test it for a bit with your 780 (try OCing) but if you are sure for an upgrade go big and get a 980ti.

That's the plan :) Can't seem to get the AB voltmod from Gregster's old thread to work though. I can only get to 1215 stable on stock volts, barley touches 90% power at full load too... add to that I have re-pasted the card this morning and shaved about 12 degrees off at load and I'm just itching to get more out of this card because I know it can do it!

I'd say get the 980Ti as well, although to be honest I only think you'd have to worry about running out of vram with a 780 with only a handful of games. I'd recommend a single card setup over sli regardless though.

I kinda thought to begin with, but even at 1080p on Arkham knight I'm pushing the limit of 3gb. And I would like to be able to keep running games with some AA! I can't live without it these days.

For the record, on Arkham Knight I haven't had any issues at all, using driver 347.52.

Quite tempted to do the same but I really want to hold out until 16nm or below GPUs :| that G1 980ti is really tempting me though :S

I was gonna get the G1 myself, but price shot up and even before that it was quite a bit more than the msi gaming edition. Which I managed to snag at the lower price of £575.99. Going by reviews there's not an awful lot between them. G1 is a bit cooler and louder though.

Sure, will do.:)

Hey Setter, how's the experience?

I got my Swift today, but I'm having some trouble with it, and I can't seem to find a fix or anyone else that's experiencing the problem I'm having.

The monitor is fine, for the most part, however, when I enable gsync, my card won't go beyond 10-12% utilization and frame rates tank. Disabling gsync and the effect disappears.

Anyone else had this? Or am I going to have to RMA this monitor that I have wanted for so long :(

For anyone that was wondering, I got e gsync issues sorted out with another dp cable, the thread above is the thread I created in in Monitors if anyone was interested.

Also, I found a command line utility called nircmd, that will let you use cmd to change your display refresh rate and res - possibly useful for those without a button on the monitor to change the refresh rate like on the swift, that want to switch between 144hz for gaming, and 120hz or lower for desktop usage, (due to increased idle power draw, temps and utilization on desktop at 144hz) - could make a batch file with this command so switching refresh rates is only a double-click away.
