Driving to manchester on friday from London

Is this a good route?

Taken from RAC

M25 to M1
M1 J19 to M6
M6 J4 to M6 TOLL
M6 TOLL to M6 J11
M6 J19 towards M56
M56 J7-J8 take the 3rd Exit off the roundabout into M56 direction M'CR AIRPORT
Leave M56 at junction M60 J5 and straight ahead into A5103 (Princess Parkway)

I'd suggest using the M6 toll by the time you get up here then... and even after that you may hit traffic around Chester.

You've picked the easiest route though, it's just unfortunate travel time.

Also how does the M6 toll charge you...sorry should really do a google.

You just get charged on your exit point, which in your case is the end of the toll road, so theres a large station that has booths, some are not manned and have baskets if you have the correct change, other you can pay to the person in the booth. Hope that helps.

Not a clue really on the time mate, the price is £3.50 for the time you should be passing through there and persuming your in a car.

When I went up to Liverpool (similar route) I did A1 - A14 - M6 - M6 toll then you can follow you route from there.

Whereabouts in London?

I usually use the M40 as it's much better than the M1 if you're on the west side.

Up the M1 to sheffield then over Woodhead or (if all else fails) the Snake, takes you to league of gentlemen country, and about 20 mins from the centre!

Just try not to get on the "normal" M6 until about 7 otherwise you will be sat there forever.

He will hit M1 J23 about 5pm , from there to J32 would be a nightmare
