driving up the M1....

I drove through them doing 80 + at a time when they were supposedly active and read on here they were active (but didn't realise at the time after having driven through them for years when they were "off")

Never received anything.

I went thought the 25-28 section last week, average speed was being used and they've installed rear facing cameras on (some) of the gantries.

Are they not only turned on once you are told what speed to go?

Im up and down M1 like a yo-yo and i am not shy with the gas pedal and have never had anything come through the post.

Expect a new thread next week 'caught speeding down M1'.

I have to drive back and forth from J15 to London quite a bit, the average speed check area adds between 10 and 15 minutes to your time depending on how congested it is.

Likewise

they must only be active when the limit is reduced.

Hmm I regulary go the full length of the M1 and normally average around about 80 - 90, not seen any cameras before except the 20 odd miles of 50mph average round luton area.

Drive at 50 in specs zones and 90 elsewhere to bring your average speed up to 70.

It's part of the same driving ethos that makes me drop a few cogs to hear the v10 wail every time I see a Honda Prius (and which makes me double bag and use extra carrier bags in supermarkets, the more stingy they become with giving them out).

just to let you all know

was a good trip

on the way there was pretty quick I kept the car around 74/75 mph

on the way back I went around 80mph at one point 85 but it took ages to get back because of slow moving traffic!

that annoying 20 mile stretch near luton was frustrating oh well
all good (unless I get a speeding ticket soon) hope not!

thanks for the advice all
