Hey,

I'm driving from Crete, up to Lithuania in August.
I haven't really driven this far alone so I was looking for some tips. :)
Also... im considering my routes... and i'm either getting the boat to Italy and then driving up through Austria,Germany,Poland,Lithuania or i'm going through the Balcans.
Has anyone driven through the Balcans before?...
Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary seem the less dangerous ones..

any info would be useful

thanks

I would imagine the amount of people who have driven from Greece to Lithuania who can be found on the overclockers UK forums is simply endless.

Good choice of forum to ask this question on.

Well I consider it a forum with many people of different experiences and talents.

There was no need for sarcasm.

Wait... my sarcasm is a quality?

Well that's more favourable than I'd have otherwise expected.

Well it's the best thing you are good at...unsure as to it being a good quality. :p

Don't stop during the night in Poland.

Well you can, just not in a Hostel ;)

Personally I'd take the safer route, just for the fact that I'd rather avoid the posibility that something could happen if there are dodgey countries on my route. :)

No, sorry, he doesn't really. Some of the OcUK members drive allover the globe and participate in Rallys etc. that take them through many dodgey countries, so there could be lots of help around.

There could be perhaps 1% of the help around thats available through a more dedicated forum, you mean.

nothing wrong with poland tbh i visit it 6 times a year or more never had a single problem in any form. driving style there is a bit scary but thats about it same as most of eastern europe though.
i have traveled quite a bit over eastern europe although i want to do czech republic this year.

its more dangerous driving through manchester than most these countries for starters manchester has more guns :P

its the normal ocuk armchair experts and scare mongery, do it mate and have a laugh doing it too :)
eastern europe has some beautifull places and in my experiance ALL the people i have met are very welcoming kind and generous.

A small minority have been to the ring or le mans etc, all are known tourist attractions etc, not lithuania, lol, 99% of people have probably never driven a car abroad and dont live outside the uk.
