Driving while texting

New road safety video released (see here) aimed at deterring drivers from texting.
Personally I think it's a pretty good video - should get the message across, they want it shown in schools nationwide. Opinions?

Apparently 45% of UK drivers admitted texting while driving (of 2000 asked).

I've been known to once or twice.. but in my defense, I can touch-text (therefore keep my eyes on the road all times). Unfortunately (or fortunately) I can no longer do so with my new touchscreen phone so texting while driving is definitely out!

I just thought it was exactly the same as any other road safety video I've ever seen...

Until I saw the baby at around 2 minutes in.

I did this once and once only as I ended up driving into a kerb (middle of the night, empty coastal road). Definately learned my lesson and shall not be doing it again.

Having said that I wouldn't have done it anyway if there were other cars / pedestrians around.

Yup. I don't do it anyway, if I get a call or text and have a passenger, I throw the phone at them. :p Else I just ignore it. :)

It's one of my pet hates, at least with being on the phone you can still keep eyes on the road, whereas texting you don't...don't do either though and don't like it when someone is driving me and they do it.

Anyway, yes texting while driving is retarded. Saying that I am rubbish at texting and can barely walk when doing it. :p
