Driving while texting

Quickly looking at a text whilst stuck in a jam I can understand, but is it really that urgent? if so then get yourself equipped to deal with it with a phone/car integration that reads texts out at the press of a single button.

As for sending a text whilst driving (and I mean not 100% stationary in traffic) anyone that does this is an absolute idiot and a danger to others on the road. Making a voice call in car on a mobile (and again not talking handsfree) requires concentration and the use of one hand, but texting requires you actually looking at the phone so how anyone can safely drive whilst doing this I don’t know.

Absolute retarded thing to do.

That Ad's pretty hard hitting!

I find it rather awkward to text on my iPhone when driving, just don't bother now at all.

I tried once and found it impossible, stupid iPhone. (That was genuinely not on a public highway believe it or not!).

Now if my iPhone buzzes I just lob it at a passenger, but I'm ok with quickly looking at a text whilst stuck in a jam.

It's clearly cos they've got something to hold onto - a steering wheel!

By the way, the picture of the teenager on the right, in the photo on that page, = demon child!!

Have you guys noticed with crashes like these the driver whos at fault and driving like a lunatic or drunk tends to survive? Example

Isn't it something to do with natural instinct at the last minute tells them to get themselves out of the danger zone, which quite often consequently puts the passenger side of the car into the danger zone.

Stationary in traffic, no problem, any time whilst moving, stupid and dangerous.

Having been on a motorcycle behind a driver texting on many occasions I believe there is no excuse for doing it. A 2 second gap and taking your eyes off the road for 2-3 seconds...

Well how many actually keep to a 2 second rule anyway!!

I won't even answer my phone using hands-free when driving. Not really sure why someone would be stupid enough to text?

i can choose when to take my eyes off the road. i wouldnt take my eyes off the road with other cars around. people take their eyes off the road for longer to change a cd or look at sat nav
In almost all cases you read, or certainly can read, sat nav with your peripheral vision. Nowhere near as distracting as sending a text.

im far more likely to crash staring at girls in short skirts, infact when I do (and it will happen) I intend to run over to the hottie in question and demand a date for making me crash my car. I'll then reverse over the child I hit to ensure death

My car reads texts to me so I never look down, I can touch text and provided its a road I know and straight I'll touch text reply (no need to change gear, one hand on wheel and other on phone).

If anything I'll drive more sensibly when texting, if I wasn't I'd no doubt be hooning it about a tad more.

Has also helped me get my 'steering with my left knee' technique down so you can play snake and drive :D *

*Last bit is a lie, I don't have snake :(

I nearly did that just after passing my test. Gorgeous bird on my way to work looked back and traffic had stopped. Managed to miss the line of cars in front, which had stopped, by driving down the wrong lane, which luckily was empty! Had to sneak back in to the line red faced but I suspect half of the blokes in the line had done the same thing, she was epic! :D

Am I a sick Censored. Apparently even words that aren't on filter are swearwords... for laughing? :(

When the two fridays in the KA watched the Fiesta coming into the side of them I really wanted someone to say "Aww shi-" before the impact :D

Anyways, Driving while texting is retarded. I'm I right in saying that the type of person who would even think about doing something so stupid (I think the video summed up nicely what type of person would do it ;)) and more than likely not going to pay attention to the video anyway?

The start of that video was like an episode of Casualty. You just know what's going to happen, and it does.
Around 00:15 I was thinking of Wayne's World and shortly after that I wondered if all the crunching and squelching sounds were the least comedic they could have found, or if that's all the Hanna Barbera SFX library had to offer.
I want the driver to have lost the use of her thumb so she can't TXT NE1 NEMORE.
