Driving without a clutch

I double it all the time, smoothest way to go 4th to second going from a 30 limit to NSL.

This subject, and the practice described, absolutely infuriates me.

Changing without a clutch doesn't wear the syncros as much as changing with a clutch.

The only reason you can change without the clutch is because the gear speeds are already matched when the gear pops in. Hence the syncros don't have anything to do.

ive only "had" to do it once. clutch failure on the golf. made it home from 40 miles away with a clutch i couldnt disengauge.

i had to plan ahead as far ahead in terms of traffic lights etc as stopping and starting was a pain

I do it if I'm bored, not hard at all in the mini.
