Hi there.

I used to get a speed of about 6.60mb but for some reason it as dropped to about 5.32mb. I've done all the stuff like removing the bell wire, changed the old BT master socket to a ADSL filtered one. (I did that like year ago)

So,

Is they anyway to get my speed back up?

Here is the statues:

DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 1052
Downstream 6240
SNR Margin(Upstream) 5.7
SNR Margin(Downstream) 2.1
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 26.9
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 51.5

I doubt it as your SNR downstream is already very low at 2.1dB. With a 51 dB Attenuation you'd expect around 4.7mbit with ADSL2+ so I reckon you are doing quite well.

Your throughput may just be limited by BT's network or something.

Thanks.

Here is a speed test I did when I had 6mb.

And the statues I had then was
DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 1027
Downstream 7232
SNR Margin(Upstream) 5.8
SNR Margin(Downstream) 3.4
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 26.9
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 52.0

I have the Bipac 7800N that's why my SNR is low because I set it to something like 11 I think it was.

EDIT:

Is my modem set-up right for me with these settings?

ADSL Mode:
Annex L On
Annex M Off

ADSL Modulator:
ADSL2 Off
ADSL2+ On
G.Lite Off
T1.413 Off
G.Dmt Off

Capability:
SRA Enabled Off

PhyR:
Upstream On
Downstream On

I reckon your sync speed has reduced because interleaving has been turned on. Interleaving does reduce your sync speed, so if you get that turned off you should get your speed back.

Thank you,

How do I turn of interleaving?

Here are my statues again from today... As you can see I have 0 SNR but not having any drop outs :O

DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 1068
Downstream 6651
SNR Margin(Upstream) 5.1
SNR Margin(Downstream) 0.0
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 26.8
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 51.5

I don't reckon your stats are that bad, interleaving off might increase sync speed but I doubt it would increase your real life speed much. More likely is the fact that as more and more people use broadband and the t'internet in your area that network congestion is the problem. You may better download speeds by moving ISP and you'll be much quicker with FTTC but at an increased (substantial) cost. I moved from BT to Sky recently, and I'm getting double the download speed and treble the upload speed with only a router change. Most of this is down to ADSL2+ but a lot is down to the fact that Sky are brand new to the area and not many are on it yet...

I know what I'm getting now is good for saying how long my line is etc.

It's just I used to have 6mb so I don't get why it went down to under 6mb. I've installed a program called inSSIDer so I could see what CH is being used, so I switched to CH 13 but still same speed.

I don't think it's to do with how many people are using it, as I have done speed test before at like early hours in morning at 3ish and still have same speed that I do in day.

Is they any way to get upload speed faster as well? I wish I could go on cable but no cable where I live. :(

right your not going to get a faster upload speed unless you move to fttc. with your stats, like I said, you're pushing what you can get sync wise. if your exchange is congested that will lower your speed, and plenty of people schedule downloads in the morning these days to mean that early hours aren't as free from congestion as they used to be. Moving to a different isp might improve things, bt do throttle stuff, especially if you download a lot (you may not think you download a lot but I guess you do more than you think). goto www.samknows.com and look at your options and we can perhaps advise you from there.

Are you testing at different servers? Has your IP Profile changed?

If your sync has actually dropped it is most likely due to crosstalk from vdsl lines. I would move to fttc imo. If your on option 3 with bt atm it's the same price or just a few quid extra for the top package.
