dropped my E8400

It'll be fine, no moving parts on a CPU, so unless you slice off a component or zap it with static there'll be nothing wrong with it.

Dont trust myself to take it out of the box untill I install it, even then im getting my mum to do it for me.. yeh Ive heard about the crazy temp stories with these cpus, and I wont worry if mine is something like 100c, cos I know its fibbing to me and I guess installing it in a abit ip35 board wont help matters cos I hear the bios is a tad dodgey on those boards. thanks for warning me tho guys.

I have just seen beta bios 16.b10 is out, which is supposed to sort some of the issues out with newer chips. Give that one a go.

At work so dont have the link :(

I am amazed how small the cpu is to my opty 185 cpu. Its tiny, are you sure its gonna fit? lol like the socket look bigger then the cpu in the pic of the abit board. Hopefully the rest of my order will be arriving tomorrow.

Yea it will fit just fine, just dont use a hammer like one members dad once did lol

Good luck with the build, hope to see some nice clocks.

I also have cp mate, mostley leg trouble, but some hand coordination trouble

just got my e8400 too and its all good, got a faulty temp sensor tho!

hahaha, that was excellent when i read that.

'hmmm, the clip doesnt seem to want to go into place'

'dont worry son, where is my hammer'

Whats the stock volts for the E8400 just incast the bios gets it too high or too low?? Would you think I will be able to overclock it to 3.6 using the stock volts for the cpu?

If your going to OC just keep the VC for now under 1.4v, have my e8500@ 1.4v in the bios and reads 1.35-1.36v in windows untill more info is avaible but I'm sure all this degredation is down to much Orthos time at silly voltages with inadequate cooling.

Thats the thing, I dont really want to take it passed stock cos of the horror stories I hear about these cpu degredation over time, and the cpu needs to last 2yrs or more.
