Please can someone help. Have a Netgear D8500, just this last week have been having problems with all desktops losing internet conection via ethernet. Am running windows 10 on 3 new builds. have tried all the obvious. netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock rest
ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew
ipconfig/flushdns
Nothing works.
Thanking you in advance

Very sorry forgot to mention, wifi does not lose connection. The only way i can connect is login via mobile to the router and that starts the lan connection. Thanks again

Ethernet cables premade or did you crimp them yourself?
PC's only connected via Ethernet and not also wireless?
Each PC set in network overview screen to recognise your network as 'home' or 'private' rather than 'public'?
Are your PC's set to obtain IP address automatically?
Presumably the DHCP server on the router has a big enough address pool to dish out IP's from and you haven't changed this by mistake for too smaller a range?

Cat7 best i could buy. Yes PC`s only using ethernet. Will have to check the next on each unit. Yes the DHCP server has a big enough pool. Thank you so much for your reply. My knowledge of networking is limited, Thank you again Regards

When one of them loses network connection, does it maintain the leased IP the router provided it via DHCP?
You could try setting all desktops to use a static IP for now, to see if the behaviour stays the same. Do you know how to do that?

No worries.

Is this router new?
Have you got a previous router you could swap it out for, if the problem persists you could then probably rule out the router being the problem?
The Ethernet cables aren't running past something electrical that's interfering like a fridge?

Do the PCs drop their connections simultaneously or individually?

Have you checked the Windows Event Viewer for anything interesting when they drop?

Were they previously working okay and then developed a problem, or was it a problem from day one?

Netgear D8500 and Cat7 Cables... could I interest you in buying a bridge?

The D8500 was new on the 2nd February 2017, only had it on for three days when Infinity started playing up. Had to swap back to the dreaded HH6 to deal with BT. Took most of the month to sort it out and get DLM reset. Put the Netgear back Tuesday this week, worked fine until Wednesday. Then these problems started. Googled for eight hours solid went through everything i could. Reset umit to factory settings and started again. Have raised a ticket with netgear, really difficult to deal with netgear direct but, ongoing. You wonderful people as allways are great thank you. I originally thought it was a microsoft problem with dropping connection coming out of S3 but not the case. Because they do not all present exactly the same symptoms. Three units are new builds. My unit is the one i am doing the most work on. Reinstalled windows. I am very frightened not to resrart the connection too many times, as it takes a miracle to get the DLM reset. But prior to this week the HH6 although slower was ok. Thank you again for your kind help. Regards

Does restarting the PC fix it?

There was a Windows 10 networking issue a few weeks ago, make sure they are fully up to date with Windows update.

Try setting the IP manually as a temporary fix.

Update network drivers.

You're not using power line adapters are you?

Try another port on the router.

Try a new network cable. Cat5e will perform exactly the same as your cat7.

Lots of suggestions, figured I'd fire them all into one reply.

Kind of sounds like a router issue...

Very sorry people BT have turned up and putting in anew feed so lost internet this via mobile. So wll have to wait for connection thanking you again regards

W10 anni update has a problem with networking and have seen it a few times on work pcs. Removing the devices from device manager and rebooting has fixed it each time.

Very sorry just back up this morning, still starting with the little yellow triangle. Getting very sick of that. Tried all suggestions thus far even down to MTU changes and sub nets. The only thing i cannot get is a static IP. On BT Infinity 2. Thanks again Regards

Answer these questions too.

I was expecting power line to be the issue so would be good to exclude that.

Is the router getting plenty of ventilation, not near a radiator or direct sunlight?

Could just be unlucky and have a faulty unit with it being so new still.

restarted PC a dozen times, netsh winsock reset catalog. nets int ip4 reset.log. ipconfig/renew. Restarted 4 times after each. set IP manually as well as Domain name server 81.139.56.100 and 81.139.57.100. re-flashed firmware after resetting to factory settings reset MTU several different numbers after ping tests. then primary DNS as 4.2.2.2 and secondary DNS as 4.2.2.1 rebooted after that. Yes thank ventilation not a problem. Possibly to your last point but when it is working it is flipping great. Thank you for your answers. Regards
