Hi there

I know the idea behind dry/wet cycle lube but if I am only using my bike on asphalt when it is not rainy weather, but still in the autumn/winter months, would it still be recommended to use the wet lube?

Thanks

Depends how much maintenance you do really.
I never use wet lube now. It's a gunky horrible mess. You can use dry lube in winter especially if you are not riding in the soaking wet lots but the roads will still likely be mucky/wet and through up loads of crud onto your drivechain. So just be sure to keep on top of it and maintained/clean.

The other option would be a proper wax lube like Squirt. It means degreasing the chain and giving it a proper clean (ideally in ultrasonic cleaner) and then treating it with Squirt. So it's all a bit time consuming but after you have done this you will get away with wiping down the chain and simply re-applying some Squirt every now and again to keep on top of it. Initial faff is time consuming as I say but what you make up for over months afterwards of not cleaning off dry/wet lubes equals it all out if anything.

Yeah. Even though I do not ride in the rain or puddles the damp, moisture and fog still create a mess. I only ride about 20 miles a week so am thinking I can just use a dry lube. I think I applied too much wet lube too. The chain was black in 2 weeks.

2 weeks is good with wet lube :p 2 hours and it's usually black!
