Drying towels, which one?

not worth it if it costs more thasn a boggo leather chamois. All they do is dry the car so stick with the tried and decades tested :)

I use egyption cotton bath towels(2 per car). Although they are only ever washed on a hot cycle with no soap or conditoiner. They work really well.

Is'nt that what they're supposed to do?

I have a Sonus and find it Fantastic, its still in great condition after much usage. I can't comment on the others as I havent used them.

Is this how you stop the watermarks from appearing? Ive only got my car last week and so new to this whole cleaning thing, but no matter how much i sheet the car with water, i get marks appearing?

apart from they have been found not to leave micro scratches like a leather chamois. Drying is an important part of washing so you might aswell get the best and get the sonus.

Ye water will drive and leave marks.

99p one from Sainsburys appears to work just as well.

Not really. The material and quality matters a lot or you will be left with spider web type swirls that require a full machine polish de swirl to remove.

You should use a microfibre waffleweave drying towel. Poorboys are very good.

Im a little OTT with car detaling but i use:

Poorboys slicks and suds for washing
Maguires Clay bar and detailing spray for claying the car and removing bonded contaminants (this is essential to do every 6 months)
Clearkote Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze - This is the best product iv ever seen and is reccomended by every detailing/cleaning forum
P21s Canuba wax

For all those that poo hoo normal chamois towels, I take it you never actually polish using a silverline orbital or any other decent polisher ie pc etc?
This whole leaves micro scratches etc is played out, all paint gets damaged to varying amounts, hell even powerwashing grit off your car scratches it.
Wash, dry and once a month/bimonthly it gets a good polish down with my silverline on slow speeds and plenty of protection put on. At the end of the day I love my car but the odd imperfection in the paint isnt going to make me sell up and buy something coated in stainless steel or at best tungsten.

Hi there

I use the extra large Eurow ones, they are great as they dry the car real quick just using the patting method. :)

These companies really saw you lot coming, didn't they?
My dad thought that, until I managed to dry my entire car visually perfectly from soaking wet before my dad had managed to get a Fiesta looking remotely dry with an old fashioned shammy!

In all honesty I am actually going to buy one of the drying towels, they do look good. It's all the other tat that makes me chuckle.

Ive got about 20 odd microfibre cloths from tesco accumulated over the last couple of years. They are something stupid like 67p, are microfibre and can be used for lots of things (polishing, cleaning windows etc.).
