hi there my GF recently bought a DS and i noticed a small RED dot on the right side of the screen...after a while it seems to have dissapeared so surley it wasn't a dead pixel?

any ideas...i noticed a lot of people referring to dead pixels as small red dots.

I'll repaste what I said in another thread this morning :)

"Dead pixels/stuck pixels ... either way they are damaged.

Each pixel is really 3 pixel elements... (red / green / blue elements) and for each there is a transistor and capacitor, and if it fails it can latch either on or off .... so some dead pixels will be black, or have a colour, or have limited colours depending which sub pixel(s) are dead.

Unsticking pixels by rapid flashing may in some cases may unstick it, but it depends on just what damage there is. People rely too much on this saying it is a cure..."

If it has sprung back into life.. good... although no guarantee it will stay that way. Nintendo did have a good dead pixel policy and would replace for just 1 dead pixel. If it reappears just take the DS back for another one :)

when I first bought a Nintendo DS it had a Dead pixel which I noticed about an hour after buying. Woolworths said that I should ring nintendo up but after having a go at them over the phone, they quite promptly gave me my money back and I bought another from Dixons
