I think you will find the majority on here prefer the DS lite, better range of games and generally more fun. Depends what you want to do though, if you want movies etc. on the go then the PSP is maybe a better choice.

Personally, I had a go on a PSP once and hated it, the button layout and the thumb pad thing are horrid. :p

I'd do a quick search of this forum for 'DS' and 'PSP' and you will get plenty of threads discussing the same thing.

Both are great little handhelds so just pick whichever one has the games you are interested in and you won't be dissappointed.

i bought a psp from japan when itt came out and all i play it for is emulators....its gathering dust tbh. i dont own a ds but its next on my list looks awesome

DS hands down.

PSP is mostly consoles re-works. DS has some fantastic original games. You'll have a lot of fun with it, trust me!

I know a couple of people that have bought PSPs, and they all say they never use them anymore due to a lack of interesting games.

I've owned both and I much preferred the DS. I owned a PSP from UK launch time so there weren't exactly many games available but looking at the available games for each console I still say the DS has the better games available.

Of course it also depends what games you want to play.

What sort of games do you prefer? There is quite an obvious difference between DS and PSP games - PSP games are generally PS2 ports, things like MGS, GTA, and DS games are mostly platformers or RPGs with plenty of cell-shading.

ive got both, there are games on both consoles that i like...GTA for the PSP obviously but then the DS has more RPG type games, also PSP IMO is better for driving games, but the DS better for platfrom games

So all depends what types of games you are wanting to play really :)

Or wether graphics or gameplay are more important

Its all about the games.
Look through the catalogues of both to see what one has games you will buy, and dont forget to look at future releases too

man Im starting to feel sorry for the underdog... PSP!! woop.

Though in fairness I would say the PSP does have a much better screen and it does have atm in the UK the best RPG's. Its graphically amazing for a handheld too.

But that said, get a DS its got such a great set of games. Its a winner.

I'ved owned both the PSP and DS lite I ended up selling my PSP. Some people may remeber my posts last christmas about how much I wanted a PSP but in the end when I bought a DS lite I wish I had of bought the Ds in the first place. Sony don't seem to realise that console games and handheld console games are not the same and don't cross over well.

bought a psp when i was working away and spending lots of time on trains when it was in an el cheapo one day sale at virgin

burnout and gta are all you need , used it to watch a good few movies off the memory stick too

novelty of the web browser wore off pretty quick for me as typing is obviously a nightmare with no keyboard :(

the ds has some very good games that are nintendo exclusives though and i think is quite a bit cheaper.

I picked up a DS Lite just recently, and I'm loving it. It's smaller, it's a clam shell so the screens won't scratch, the games are more original, and I get the impression it's just more fun.

But as people say... it's all about the games catalouge.

Depends what you're after really.

The PSP is excellent as a direct replacement for a full on console. I spend around 2 hours a day on the train and it's great, also in the evenings when housemates are hogging the tele. The media playback isn't all that wonderful, I haven't really played with it that much but I don't think you can get great video quality from the memory stick.

The Nintendo DS is great too. I must admit that I haven't really touched it much lately but I've had some good times with it. If you already have a console that you can freely access then I'd go for the DS :)
