Not sure how to phrase this but how should the touch screen feel when you use it with the stylus?

On my one, it's almost like touching the top screen. On my GFs, it's almost as if there's a small gap between the protective film and the actual screen which causes it to depress slightly when using it. This affects the accuracy when using the stylus.

will tell you tomorrow when mine comes :D man im excited! Is your GF using a lite too?

There are 2 types. Grainy and grid.

Grainy:

Very hard top layer but produces a haze over the picture. The touch screen requires less force to use but likewise it is easier to make mistakes. The screen can have a yellow tint.

Grid:

Can see a grid array of dots under a very very bright spotlight. The picture looks identical to the top screen and the screen "gives" a bit when touching the screen. Takes a little bit more pressure to use and is by far the superior version IMO.

Both types are as durable as each other as I've owned 2 DSs and a DS lite with various screen types. It is random which one you get and neither are defective.

Doesnt 'feel' squidgy? I've never noticed anyway, probably will now it's been mentioned!

Well it WILL be one or the other, it won't have the traits of both. When I say squidgy I mean you can see it indent slightly while the grainy screen doesn't.

Thanks for clarifying that Kreeeee :D

My old style DS always had a bit of 'squidge' to it which I didnt like. DS Lite one feels nice and solid so must be one of the others mentioned, gladly.

When my DS starts up and you have those 2 white screens about the health warning, my bottom screen is just slightly yellow, but under bright light I can see the dots on the touch screen. So work that one out.

All touch screens have a slight tint to them because of their nature. You probably have a poor film on your screen if it's very noticeable. The grainy screen on average has a much stronger tint as well as your usual TFT haze that's not visible on the top screen.

The benefits of the grid screen are fantasic. Shame my DSL has a grainy :(

Hi all,

i bought the Argos essential kit yesturday

# Protective carry case.

# DS or DS Lite car power adapter.

# Games cartridge storage case.

# Safe lens shields.

# 2 stylus for DS and 2 stylus for DS lite.

# Stereo earphones with winding case.

# Wrist strap.

# Soft cleaning cloth.

Squeeze soft card.

Its a good deal but , the Squeeze Card is a small transparent sticker that goes on the bottom screen of the DS, and im not liking it one bit it seems less responsive than it did without and as (silly me) as scratched the shield it looks rubbish now , but im scared to take it off in case it buggers up the screen :( dunno what to do.

No need for a protective layer at all. My launch DS which has been used silly amounts by friends and family has absolutely no scratches at all on it. There's simply no need and it just suckers people into paying for a thin 3p sheet of plastic that just makes you lose responsiveness, sharpness and colour contrast.

I disagree , I have a hori screen protector on my touch screen and it looks and works exactly as it did before. Launch japanese original ds , no idea what type of screen it has.

Also anyone know if the Ice blue ds lite is coming out here , I want to change to a lite now , but want the blue one :(

Yeah i've noticed the diffrence with the protection on (i wish i didnt add it) would it be safe to un-peel it? it was quite sticky scared to take it off as i might damage it.

It got progressively worse to the point that it was clicking when being pressed and playing Sudoko was difficult because it wasn't writing properly.

I took it back and got it replaced for another :)

I had a hori one and hated it! lose so much sensitivity and picture quality.
