What does that exactly mean?

Can a DS search online to find other DS users in the UK/Europe etc, wanting to play a multiplayer game?

Do you need to do this via a Wii?

Or am i looking at the wrong thing, and the only 'online' aspect is as if you have 2 or more DS' in a room and can connect to each other?

You need some kind of WEP-related wireless signal, either by setting it up youself with a wireless modem/router, or just using the USB Wifi dongle you can buy from Nintendo. Then you can set up your connection through any of the games that use it.

Then it either requires you to input friends codes to connect to other DSs, or it does a random search for currently online players. Depends on the game.

You can play multiplayer games over the internet.

Yes, and the rest of the world if you choose to.

No.

Will the DS ever support more than WEP?

I want my DS online but not if i have to turn off/down my security every time, is my only option the dongle?

Unless I'm wrong, the DS only supports WEP. It's the Wii that can do WPA too.

WEP and WPA are types of wireless security levels, with WEP being the older, slightly less secure one. Setting them in your modem/router is usually just a matter of choosing the right option from the settings.

Pretty much. It may be possible to update the firmware to sort it, but Nintendo aren't known for that kind of thing, so I wouldn't bank on it.

I doubt the DS Lite ever will, that's not to say they won't bring out a 3rd revision of the DS that does, however thats seems unlikely. It would be good if the Wii could be configured to share it's Internet connection to the DS or an addon to allow this (Like the USB WiFi Adapter).

Thats a really good idea actually, might be worth dropping nintendo an e-mail as the hardware is all there, just needs a firmware upgrade.

They'll know about the idea as they use Wii-DS connectivity a lot. I think the main reason they don't is that both devices are primarily wireless so there will be very limited situations where the Wii can connect but the DS cannot.
