Hey guys, ive had both but sold them last year so i need to know which one to get again? I see there is a few good games out for both hand helds now but what one do you guys suggest, value for money?

Have a look at the games available and see which console has the games you like the look of most.
Simple :)

Having traded in my DS for a PSP i can safely say that i am missing my DS hugely. I was sucked in my the marketing of the PSP and general design. But thats just me. But personally i would go for the DS , cheaper and cooler!

Haly's right - what games do you prefer? if you like the kinds that are out on DS, get that, if you like the PSP ones...get that :)

It largely depends what you want from your system.

If you want to be able to play the same (or very similar) games to those you play on a PS2 or Xbox anywhere, get the PSP.

If you want to play different, inventive and innovative games, get the DS.

For me, I got the DS. The PSP offers nothing new really, it's just the same old schtick in a portable package. The DS, however, has some fanstansically different games available for it :)

I have a PSP & my brother has a DS & to be honest I'm looking forward to more games for his DS than I am for my PSP so come launch day I'll be getting a nice Black Lite with Trauma Centre, Mario Bros & Princess Peach

But I'll still be keeping my PSP for Pro Evo, Football Manager & Madden

I think in fact if you can afford both...buy both they each have their own charm & games worth getting

I still own both and have just purchased a DS Lite. I can't remember the last time I played my PSP, but I play my DS at least once a day...Animal Crossing! Tetris Online! Mario Kart!!...do I need to say more?

Yes the PSP is sexy compaired to the original DS, but the DS Lite is gorgeous in a iPod way. As for the games, the PSP hasn't really had a decent game release since GTA: Liberty City Stories.

In my opinion, I'd go with the DS purely for the gameplay. The PSP is filled with ports of PS2 games I wasn't interested in the first time round...

Cheers for the reply's so far guys! Also where is the best place to get both? As in cheapest! I went into GAME and they had the white PSP with 1 game for £179, i then go into Game Station and they have the white PSP with 2 games for the same price! Anywhere else that is better value or is the Game Station deal pretty good?

I cant remember if they were the base pack's or value packs!

Thanks.

Sony are bringing out a service that will allow you to download and play ps1 games on your psp, something to think about. :)

Different games that have never been seen before like, mario cart, metroid, zelda perhaps? ;) Tbh both consoles have got many rehashes.

Yes, because every console nintendo has released has had the varying control mechanism of the DS so all the games are exactly the same... Oh wait, no they actually haven't ;) (the only one that is very very similar is mario Kart). Having the same characters doesn't make it the same game ;) Even Tetris on the DS introduces new and interesting variations on the old theme

Compare that with the PSP, where the game is identical to the PS2 version, with the same controls and everything, and you might start to see the pattern ;)

Sorry to NOT answer your question but have you considered a GP2X console?

as said, if your looking for new and innovative games then go for ds. if you want something more the lines of ps2 remakes, music and films on go then get psp

Has Mario kart or Metroid ever been on line ?????

also Zelda is a sequal to wind waker, it has a new story and gameplay, its not just a Straight port of a ps2 game, like most of the psp games :p

get both? :P

I had a DS when they came out, got bored easily and sold it, but now loads of games are coming out like Phoenix Wright (sp) and New Super Mario Bros so I want one again, will be getting the Lite.

I dont think i'll be selling my PSP though, games like Outrun 2006 and Everybody's Golf keep it going. As well as being able to put films on it and music. So if i'm going for a long haul, i have all kinds of entertainment. LocoRoco seems to be a great game, got the demo, and will keep my psp just for that lol!

Get both if there are games on both consoles you like ;P

Just get the DS lite when it comes out and get a PSP off the bay. You knows you want to!

EDIT - just saw the OP lol, DS for value for money, is more innovative, however i've always been stung by Nintendo releasing really good games very slowly. (reason I bought an Xbox when i had a GC)

The controls dont make it a different game though, lemmings for example is exactly the same on the pc, ppc and psp yet they all have different controls. Age of empires is another example, exactly the same on the pc as the ppc.

lol! i think adapting controls for a touch screen is on different scale to just remapping a a few buttons. I think the key point here is that nintendo are bringing totally new (original), and innovative games to the market which fully utilise a different control mechanism (touch screen) whereas the psp is mainly straight ports, or at least it just feels like a ps2 on the move. Which is of course not a bad thing if thats what you want.

Both products are great, it just depends what you want. i personally think if you want to a handheld for games, get ds and if you want all round entertainment then get psp. Or get both :D
