hi

nerver really overclocked before , i am looking at upgrading to a e6400 cpu have been looking mainly at budget boards, but i am tempted by the ds3 due to the overclocking.

the thing is i only have value corsair select 533 ram , would this seriously hamper any o/c. can the memory say be locked at 533 and the cpu overclocked to whatever or do they have to run at the same speeds.

on a tight budget so dont want to have to buy new memory as well

any advice would be much appreciated.

You pretty much won't be able to overclock a C2D using ddr2-533 RAM and a DS3. You can't run the RAM slower than the fsb on the DS3. It seems to be becoming the norm on the new Intel boards. You'll need atleast some ddr2-667 to be able to overclock the e6400, and ddr2-800 to be able to push it to its usual overclocked level of >400x8.
