DS3 Ethernet not found Help!

I have just switched from the gear in my sig to a DS3 with an e4300 and 2 gig of ram.

I didn't want to do a full re-install of Windows XP so I removed the nforce drivers , swapped the motherboards and plugged it all back in. Everything seems to work after loading the gygabyte drivers.

EXCEPT.

Windows keeps finding an Ethernet controller for which it can't find any drivers on the disk. The gygabite express install seems to have skipped them and doesn't see the need to install any.

Obviously, I can't get on the net with that computer. I am really stumped.

Help - please

Anyone? I really would like to avoid having to re-install XP. I've got loads of programs loaded (photoshop, photshop album, itunes, thunderbird, firefox, not to mention numerous games, etc...) I can just foresee a complete nightmare thrying to reload them and get them to all work again!

So why doesn't XP just find them when it does its search?

I've tried looking at the disk and installing the drivers manually but the "network" folder has got about half a dozen further folders all with drivers in them? Which one should I try to install?

Would buying a cheap wireless adapter work?

Autorun the disk....and you should get a menu coming up..where you can slect chipset drivers, network drivers and additional bits and bobs. Thats what I get with my DS4 anyway.
When changing CPU and mobo....I would always re-isnatll the Op system...heard of too many problems trying not to. But persevere with this first...they are on the disk...Ill have a look when I get home if you are still struggling.

Erm...how are you managing to get these forums....cant you just download the driver from the webiste and stick it on a disk???

So why doesn't XP just find them when it does its search?

cos it never does!

Would putting in a cheap wireless adapter work if I disabled the onboard ethernet controller in the bios? I've got a wireless router.
