I put together my rig on Thursday based on a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and succesfully installed XP Pro.
Everything seemed ok until earlier today when I attempted to install Vista Ultimate (Retail x86). It booted from the DVD fine and I entered the usual location settings and proceed to start with the installation when I suddenly got this error - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v427/griff_90/installation.jpg
Frustrated I decided to install Vista from within XP installing it over the old operating system. This seemed to work perfectly and after the usual restarts I was in Vista. However there is no sign of my optical drive anywhere. It's missing from explorer and device manager doesn't show it at all. Only my raptor is listed under drives.
Anyone experienced anything like this before with this board?
