Hi, I want to use 4 IDE (2 x optical + 2 x IDE HDD) devices on my DS4 but the board one has one device port, so, I bought a PCIe card which provides an additional IDE channel. I've installed it together with the IDE drives but at hangs at boot on the "jmicron" screen and just says "searching for drives".

Anyone know how to fix this (other than selling the IDE drives and replacing with SATA)?

TIA.

Cart before the hosre?? you need to install the drivers for the PCI card on the system before you can access the drives on it... easiest answer would be to put your cd and one hardrive on the single onboard channel and boot up from there.. then when windows is installed swap the drives to the card channels...??

Not sure I follow you entirely ... but the process I followed was: put the optical drives on the mobo IDE channel before installing, used them to install the PCI drivers for the card, then inserted the PCI card and the IDE HDD's. So this should work

Ahhh now that makes some sense.... had you said that earlier might well have been able to diagnose it sooner... so you have SATA drives and and IDE drives together enter the BIOS and check your boot sequence.. when running IDE and SATA together , if i remember rightly, there is a protocol where you have to tell the the BIOS that the SATA drive is the boot drive... Soz, cant be more specific but i came across it on my last comp once,, when rooting through the BIOS options...
