Hi, not too good with networks as I just have a simple setup. :)

But a friend of mine has an old ADSL wireless router he wants to use to get his Wii online.

Basically he has Virgin Media for his broadband supplier, connecting the Virgin modem to a wired dsl router. But the Wii is downstairs and they can't wire the Wii into the router. So is it possible to connect the dsl router, to the adsl wireless router so the Wii can get online?

Hopefully the above makes sense.

Cheers mr.sly :0

Yes, you just need to turn off the DHCP server on the ADSL router (as otherwise there'll be two running which will cause issues) and also assign it an IP address within the same subnet as the cable router. For example, assuming the cable router is 192.168.0.1 then the ADSL router should be given an address in the same range, like 192.168.0.2 so it can be managed. Then just set the wireless side of things up as normal.

Once that's done just plug one of the ADSL router's ethernet ports into the cable router. The ADSL router will just be acting as a simple switch and wireless access point, with no routing happening.

Cheers, that makes sense with my limited knowledge of networks. Will be trying it out tonight so hopefully it'll be plain sailing.

Cheers guys. :)
