If they don't care about imports, why don't they offer international warranty on bodies and Nikon are even tougher for repairs from what I have read. Sigma too.

Because the local business units don't want to pick up the warranty repair costs of the other regions sales.

Blame VAT for any loss in value of products bought in the UK, it really harms sales when HK exporters don't need to add that 20% extortionate tax to their products. Stopping people importing if anything would harm the UK market because if they can't afford the body from the UK then they certainly won't be buying any lenses in the UK.

You think someone buying a 2k body cheapily abroad then buys UK lenses? The lens has international warranty so the risk is even less than the body.
