The pads should last me some time as I don't really sweat.

The suspension mechanism has me worried. I have a smallish head so idk how long the suspension mechanism will work effectively with me.
 
the suspension system will take less of a beating with a small head. it's such a rubbish design though imo. i guess it would be good if you're head constantly changed size. but I'm quite happy to adjust headphones once myself and have them fit perfectly every time. also they made them pretty hard to replace. with the cost of the pads you're better off constantly selling and rebuying every year or so, which is actually another thing that annoys me XD

i love the build of the dt990 but the treble peak at 10k is like an ice pick in the ear. you can tune it down but like -10db but by the time I'd done that I thought this isn't the headphone for me.

if i had to pick though I'd go for the dt990 and eq them.

I contacted akgs spare part supplier in the UK and they can sell the pads at £15 a pop.

As for the headband he said around £70 but he'll have to contact the engineer to see how much it would cost for them to carry out the repair. When he emails me I'll tell you guys the cost
