Dual Boot Install

Hello all

I've got an old laptop that I want to install Ubuntu on while keeping the existing install of Windows XP in place .

The hdd already has two partions on it . Can I just use the second partion to install Ubuntu ?

From the little I've read if I want to be able to choose between booting to XP or Ubuntu I need to use the right installer - Grub2 ??

A couple of guides I've read seem to put a dual boot install under the 'advanced' heading ..... do I have much chance of getting this to work or am I in for a world of pain

Any answers to questions I haven't asked ?

Any links to good idiot guides ?

the latest installers give you options

one of these is to install as a dual boot. To make it slightly easier just delete the second partition and make it free space.

Most installers are fairly idiotproof to be honest. Just download a livecd and boot off it. It's very self-explainatory once you are in the install process.
