Dual boot/running 2nd Op system.

Hi running W10 on C&D drive's SSD's looking to run Linux also for browsing and the W10 drives for Gaming.
Whats the best way round it? as i know W10 thinks it's the best and throws it's dummy out when challenged! with the over writing of partitions etc.
One odd thing found other day also was when my SSD/windows had a hissy fit went back to boot screen and couldn't get it to boot so put old W7 spinner in but then PC asked if i wanted to boot into 10 or 7 how would it know that if no other drives present? had me thinking is 10 writing into bios?

One other way thinking is to use a sata HD switching unit like the lian li one thats fits in 5.25 bay so connected to drives then select which drives want powered up before boot up.
So that way don't have to connect/disconnect leads or messing with selecting in bios?

Would that work ok?

I use one of them to power drives multiple Win10 installs using the same mobo, cpu, gpu etc.

works great.

Install windows on 1 drive. Disconnect that and install linux on another drive. Connect them both. Put Clover on a crappy old usb stick you have lying around and set your pc to boot to it. Every time your pc boots you are presented with a handy menu to select which os you would like to use. Simples.

I think ReFind does a similar job to Clover.

So do you just leave the USB in and set bios to boot from that and you can choose everytime without faffing about with the MBR and dual booting?

I agree with putting each OS on separate drives but there is no need to use Clover.

Set the main OS to first boot and when needed just boot into the quick boot menu, on Asus boards F8, then simply select the drive you wish to boot from.

This is how I set multi boots.

Cheers guy's always open to new ideas.
One reason liked seprate drives is W10's inherant noseiness with other things "Not" windows and it's love of over writing things on drives like a Petulant child!
As know others that W10 was wiped there other info off drive!
