Dual Channel Question

I have originally 2 sticks of DDR2 1066MHz RAM each with 2GB Capacity which totals up to 4GB running in Dual Channel.

Recently I plugged in another pair of 2GB Kinsgton DDR2 800MHz RAM.

Now the system is running with 8GB RAM on Vista 64 bit. My question is is my performance improved? Because one pair is 1066MHz whereas the other pair is 800MHz.

Which speed the system is following 800 or 1066?
 
Did you set up your 1066MHz memory in the BIOS originally?

If not the DDR2 1066MHz memory has probably been running at 800MHz - it's default setting when left on auto (DDR2 1066MHz is essentially overclocked DDR2 800MHz).

Run CPU-z and click on the memory tab - make a note of the timigs and frequency and post back.

Firstly your RAM will only run at one speed driven by the controller, so mixed speed sticks will run at just one.

It seems your ram is runnng at 1000mhz, so 200mhz overclocked for the Kingston kit. You're lucky there - it is probably handling it fine as it's decent memory and is probably getting 2.1V or some other >1.8V voltage like your Corsair was getting. You can check this in the BIOS.

You'd have to look up that Kingston kit and see how much voltage it can safely take.

Actually I also rejoice at that! I thought the system will pickup and run at 800MHz.

What about the FSB:DRAM ratio? is 4:5 okay or 1:1 should be the optimal settings?

It's 4:5 that's making it run at 500MHz (doubled to 1000MHz).

If you change it to 1:1 the RAM will drop to 400MHz (doubled to 800MHz).

because it is the ratio of CPU":"DRAM" and it is 4:5 does it mean that CPU throughput is slower than that of the memory? Even though the memory is moving fast but the CPU is not picking it up equally quickly? Do I understand it correctly?
