Sorry to steal thread but is there any way to set the affinity of a process in linux? for example start up a process on a specific core, or is that all locked to the kernel?
Thats unnecessary under Linux. *nix based systems have been doing SMP for a long time and are better at it, though like with Windows it depends on the software being written threaded too
