I'm looking for a non-NAS with at least 2 drive bay (empty or not) with RAID 1 capability that isn't ridiculously expensive, I'm looking for something around £150.

I wouldn't mind if it's a NAS if it I can connect it to my laptop/PC via eSata/Firewire/USB or at least the ability to do so via ethernet directly. The router is downstairs and I want the drive on my desk in the bedroom, next to my PC, is this possible?

From what I can find, I feel like I'm asking for too much.

edit: looks like I've found what I'm looking for, "IcyBox 2-Bay 3.5" SATA External RAID Enclosure USB 3.0" at the 1/2 price I was looking for, sounds good, unless you have better recommendations?

Didn't want to bump this, but no responses? ):

I was looking at Drobo, seems really simple to use but the price is putting me off a bit, any recommendations?

Or have I already answered myself with IcyBox's external RAID Enclosure?

Non-NAS solution:
StarTech 3.5 inch 4 Drive eSATA USB Multi Bay External Hard Drive Enclosure

Can be found for £116-ish, and means you can expand in future if you want.

NAS-ish solution (I know you didn't ask, but I thought I'd give it anyway):
HP Microserver

Is there some reason you explicitly want a non-NAS?

It's not that I don't want a NAS, I probably should have worded it better, but I want something with 2 or more drive bay and have it connected to my PC directly, I wasn't even aware such thing existed until few days ago. :P

I came across these couple of times when I was looking around, extra drive bays are nice to have. I'll keep these in mind.
